Hosted by Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran (STIP), Jakarta
Dear Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Colleagues, and Honored Participants,
It is with profound honor and heartfelt pleasure that I welcome you all to the 23rd Asia Maritime & Fisheries Universities Forum (AMFUF), proudly hosted by Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran (STIP) Jakarta, Indonesia.
This year’s theme, “Strengthening Maritime and Fisheries Education: Collaboration, Innovation, and Sustainability in the Era of Digital Transformation,” reflects our shared commitment to addressing the challenges and opportunities that define the future of the maritime and fisheries industries.
As we gather here in Jakarta, a city that has long been a gateway to the seas, we are reminded of how maritime traditions have shaped our nations’ identities and economies. Today, however, our mission extends beyond heritage—we are called to embrace innovation, to integrate sustainability into every aspect of our practices, and to prepare the next generation of seafarers, maritime leaders, and fisheries experts to thrive in an interconnected and rapidly changing world.
AMFUF has always been more than just an academic forum. It is a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, partnership building, and collaborative action. Over the next three days, we will engage in discussions, share research and experiences, and explore innovative approaches to maritime and fisheries education and training. I am confident that these dialogues will inspire breakthroughs and foster deeper cooperation among our institutions.
The digital transformation of the shipping and fisheries sectors is not a distant prospect—it is happening here and now. Together, we must ensure that education and training remain at the forefront of this transformation, equipping our students not only with technical expertise but also with global awareness, ethical responsibility, and resilience in the face of change.
On behalf of STIP Jakarta and the organizing committee, I extend my deepest gratitude to all our distinguished delegates, speakers, and participants, who have traveled from across Asia and beyond to be part of this important forum. Your dedication and presence enrich the dialogue and strengthen the AMFUF community.
May this year’s forum be a source of inspiration, collaboration, and actionable outcomes that will advance maritime and fisheries education for generations to come.
Welcome to Jakarta, welcome to STIP, and welcome to AMFUF 2025. Let us navigate this important journey together.
Sincerely,
Dr. Capt. Tri Cahyadi, M.H., M.Mar
